Ello people! How are you?
So if you know me then you should know that I absolutely love horror movies! Although they never scare me but I still love watching them so here are a few horror movies that I love and hopefully you’ve either watched them or will do.
As Above So Below
This is without a doubt my favorite horror movie of all time!
IMDb synopsis:
“Archaeologist Scarlett Marlowe (Perdita Weeks) has devoted her whole life to finding one of history’s greatest treasures: Flamel’s Philosopher’s Stone. According to legend, the artifact can grant eternal life and turn any metal into gold. When she learns that the stone is hidden underground in the Catacombs of Paris, she assembles a crew to guide and document her historic mission. As they begin their descent, the team-members have no way of knowing that they are entering their own personal hell.”
Although the synopsis doesn’t say much but I promise you that you’ll love it! It wasn’t scary in the start but then it just got better and better!
Oculus
IMDb synopses
“Haunted by the violent demise of their parents 10 years earlier, adult siblings Kaylie (Karen Gillan) and Tim (Brenton Thwaites) are now struggling to rebuild their relationship. Kaylie suspects that their antique mirror, known as the Lasser Glass, is behind the tragedy. The seemingly harmless reflections contain a malevolent, supernatural force that infects the mind of anyone who gazes into it. As Kaylie gets closer to the truth, the siblings become caught in the mirror’s evil spell.”
This is what you call a totally Mind f..k movie but it was so so good!
The Others
IMDb synopses:
“Grace (Nicole Kidman), the devoutly religious mother of Anne (Alakina Mann) and Nicholas (James Bentley), moves her family to the English coast during World War II. She awaits word on her missing husband while protecting her children from a rare photosensitivity disease that causes the sun to harm them. Anne claims she sees ghosts, Grace initially thinks the new servants are playing tricks but chilling events and visions make her believe something supernatural has occurred.”
It’s quite an old one and it’s ending is one of the most epic things I’ve ever seen!
Sinister 1&2
Sinister 1 IMDb synopses:
“Washed-up true-crime writer Ellison Oswalt finds a box of super 8 home movies that suggest the murder he is currently researching is the work of a serial killer whose work dates back to the 1960s.”
Seriously IMDb? Is that all you could write? -_-
Well basically it’s about a writer who’s got quite a nice little happy family but some mysterious shit starts happening. There aren’t any ‘ghosts” in this one but it’s awesome!
Sinister 2
IMDb synopses:
“Hiding from her abusive, estranged husband, Courtney Collins lives in a rural house with her 9-year-old twins, Dylan and Zach. Young Dylan receives nightly visits from ghoulish kids who show him disturbing images of families being slaughtered. It’s all part of the grand plan of Bughuul, the evil spirit who recruits innocent children to murder their loved ones. The only hope for his intended new victims may be a former deputy who’s familiar with Bughuul’s fiendish work from the past.”
I have to say that it wasn’t better than the first one because it was more gory than horror but still, one of my favorites.
So yeah thats about it! Let me know if you’ve seen any of these or maybe you’ll be watching them soon..?
Thanks for reading!
Bye bye!

What about the classics? The Shining, Psycho, and Alien are my go-tos. Nice, timely post!

I really did enjoy the shinning but as said,I’m not really scared easily so it was much of a thriller for me 🙂 but really it was amazing to watch!

I completely agree! Same could be said of Psycho and Alien. Not super scary, but great movies. For pure horror, have you seen The Orphanage? It’s a subtitled movie from Spain and has some very strong spooks and a great story; might be my favorite horror movie just based on scariness.

Ooooh I have! It was so good! I especially loved that plot twist!

Damn it! Now I realized you wrote ‘the orphanage’ and not orphan! My bad, sorry! But I will check it out!

No problem, Orphan is pretty good. The Orphanage is way different and I can’t recommend it enough. I believe Guillermo del Toro was a producer for it!

The insidious series is definitely a spooky one to watch! Definitely the first one. I’ve seen them a couple of times and still get the creeps. Anything James Wan is good! Also, have you seen Don’t Breathe? Not paranormal like you mentioned you liked in the comments, But still a fantastic movie. I’m a horror movie fanatic!

I’ve been to watch don’t breathe. My friend literally has been pushing me to watch it but I don’t often get free time 🙂
I have watched the insidious series and it was awesome but I really didn’t find it scary (it’s really hard for me to get scared :D) but I personally think the third one was the best :DD

I’m the same way, I don’t get scared very easily either! But Insidious makes me uncomfortable almost lol. The third one was fantastic!! But Don’t Breathe is definitely one of my favorites. I ranked it as best movie of 2016.

I have to second that on the witch, its a must see for horror fans. Don’t expect your over the top horror or gore, cause it creeps you out with the pure tone of the film. A slow burn but its so good!

It’s different, which I loved. I hate that so many horror movies are SO predictable. I watched Autopsy of Jane Doe this weekend. It was also really good! I’ll be posting my review on my blog later!

I’ve been looking for a reason to check out As Above So Below- It really made the top of your list eh? It’s the one film on your list I haven’t seen yet. I get the feeling its similar to “The Cave” or “The Descent”. Oculus was pretty good, it was a nice change of pace from some of the more gory films as of late. Thanks for recommendations!
